Take centre stage at the Media Centre

From becoming a presenter to making recordings in the music studio, an Open Studios event at the University of Gloucestershire is giving visitors the chance to get a taste of life behind the scenes at the Media Centre, and even receive a memento from the day.

The state of the art centre at the university’s Park campus in Cheltenham is giving staff, students and the public a warm welcome on Wednesday, 3 June as part of Festival Fortnight (link removed as event has finished). Festival Fortnight is an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the achievements of students, and give the local community the chance to come and find out more about what happens at the university.

Tom Soper, subject group leader and course leader for Popular Music at the University of Gloucestershire, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to get hands on experience in the Media Centre and find out how television, film, radio and music are really made. You don’t need to have any experience at all, and there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved and ask our staff and students questions.”

The Open Studios at the Media School feature four events, and where possible footage can be sent as a memento afterwards:

Most of the events during Festival Fortnight are free and open to the public. Find out more about the Open Studios and other events by visiting the Festival Fortnight website (link removed as event has finished).
