The pandemic, the consumer and changing marketing perspectives

Philippa Ward

Recent events have meant changes for many of us; how and when we work, what we do in our leisure time, plus how we buy, consume and dispose of products. On Wednesday 17 March, as part of the University of Gloucestershire’s Living Room Lecture series, Dr Philippa Ward will explore how evolving approaches to consumption present challenges for marketers.

With over 25 years of retail and academic experience, Philippa’s research centres on the effects of the in-store environment on customers, de-shopping, and retail theatre.

Dr Philippa Ward, Reader in Services Marketing, said:

“I’ll be discussing how our evolving approaches to consumption present real opportunities and challenges for marketers – increasing the potential for positive digital transformations, offering novel approaches to customer engagement and connection, but also raising concerns over consumer privacy and ‘involuntary simplicity’. I’m looking forward to the session!”

Philippa’s lecture, titled ‘The Evolving Consumption Landscape: The Pandemic, The Consumer and Changing Marketing Perspectives’ will be streamed live on the University’s Facebook page

Join on Facebook at 1pm on Wednesday 17 March for the presentation, followed by a live Q&A. No booking or ticket required.

The University of Gloucestershire offers a BA in Marketing, an MSc in Marketing, and an MSc by Research in Marketing, Events and Law.
