The Politics of Representation
Dr Charlotte Beyer is undertaking an ongoing larger-scale investigation into the politics of representation. Informed by intersectional feminism and decolonisation, this project explores contemporary literature, principally crime fiction, and children’s and young adult writing.
The project has both a literary/textual and a pedagogical dimension. The overall goal is to generate meaningful and important research which changes people’s perception and enhances their understanding of inequalities and how damaging they are. Furthermore, through the exploration of literature and the development of intersectional critical perspectives, Charlotte is seeking to demonstrate how this literature offers imaginative tools for resistance and effecting change.
