University launching innovative Clearing Calculator

The University of Gloucestershire is helping applicants find a university place with a new online Clearing Calculator and a live chat service.

Traditionally, applicants looking for a Clearing place telephone universities, but potential applicants to the University of Gloucestershire can now use new online services to view the courses which have spaces available and enter their results online. They will then receive a response from the Admissions Team within 20 minutes during opening hours throughout the Clearing period*. The live chat is available now, ahead of A-Level results day, for potential applicants to discuss their options with a member of the Admissions team online.

Tom Kidd, Admissions and Applicant Experience Manager, said: “In the first instance, some people may prefer to look at what’s on offer online rather than picking up the phone straight away. They can talk to staff online through the live chat service, while the Clearing Calculator will give them an idea of their options, and then gives us the opportunity to then contact them and see how we can help. Clearing isn’t as daunting as people may think, and we also offer an online Clearing guide with advice on what to do and how it works.”

Sophie Brown, who found a place on the Business Management degree, asked to be released into Clearing after not getting her first choice university and deciding against her second: “If you’re coming through Clearing this year, stay calm and don’t panic,” she said. “There are often many places available, it will all work out for you and everything will fall into place.”
