University of Gloucestershire is shortlisted for Times Higher Education award

​The University has been recognized for its Reciprocal Mentoring Programme, which aims to improve the experiences of BAME students and increase the understanding of the daily challenges those students face. ​​​

The programme has been running since 2017 partnering BAME students at the University of Gloucestershire with senior leaders. Following the successful trial, the programme was established with support from the University’s Executive in October 2018. Students shared their personal stories and this has helped to develop greater understanding and appreciation amongst senior leaders who gained invaluable insights. 

The Times Higher Education Awards are widely known as the Oscars of higher education and these are the 16th annual THE Awards which will take place online this year. 

Clare Peterson, Equality and Diversity Manager at the University of Gloucestershire, said:

The programme created an opportunity for both partners to change their existing ways of thinking, challenging both to think in new ways. Each gained greater insight that benefitted them as individuals and is influencing change across the University”.​
