My first year has magnified my passion for law

Chelsea returned to education in 2021 to pursue a degree in Law with a foundation year.

The foundation year allowed me to engage in academia as a mature student. The year gave me the opportunity to carefully decide to continue with my studies, while gaining essential skills to uphold and develop throughout my Law degree.

In the first year of my Law degree I first researched the fundamentals of contract law, of which the module intended to underpin the formalities of contractual activities. This provided me with a solid introduction into the legal industry.

Throughout each of my modules, I participated in class discussions and organised debates. This was opportune for developing my research skills and gaining more confidence with public speaking. I specifically enjoyed taking part in mooting in the universities moot court for the Tort Law assessment.

The course leaders structure our learning through a mixture of seminars and lectures, and individual and group work. It has provided me with valuable and immersive learning practices in preparation for a more independent way of learning in my next year to come.

My first year has magnified my passion for law and I hope to go on to complete a postgraduate degree in Media and Entertainment Law. I plan on focusing my interest of media law throughout my final years at UoG.

I am grateful for the experiences I have had so far, and I am glad that I decided to go back into education at this stage in my life. Discover UoG’s Law courses.
