Explore the fundamental principles of law in England and Wales on a law degree designed to enable prospective lawyers to obtain the legal knowledge, skills and attributes needed to pursue a career in law, aligned with professional standards.
Our Law LLB (Hons) course scored 94% for teaching and 97% for academic support in the National Student Survey 2023. Our law courses were also ranked 2nd in the UK for teaching.
You’ll take part in engaging and stimulating teaching through our interactive and challenging teaching sessions. You’ll obtain knowledge and skills in key areas of the Law of England and Wales as well as gaining an insight into international law. You can also specialise in a range of subjects including family law, company law, intellectual property law and human rights depending on your area of interest.
Through lectures, seminars and group work, you’ll put your learning to the test in class debates and mooting sessions. You’ll learn how to argue a case effectively in court, interview clients and negotiate agreements, benefitting from simulated trials and tribunals in our Moot Court Room. You can also take part in both internal and external mooting competitions and become part of our successful alumni of previous winners
You could spend a year on placement through the four year sandwich course option. You can also gain work experience throughout your studies, for example as a result of our collaboration with a local law firm on our Family Law module.
Put your theory into practice by advising real-life clients as part of our assessed Law Clinic. You’ll have the opportunity to shadow a solicitor offering legal advice. All focused on perfectly preparing you for when you graduate.
The University of Gloucestershire Law Clinic offers pro bono legal advice to business and members of the local community, including charities, staff and students. Students can become Legal Advisers and can assist with real cases, under the supervision of a practising solicitor.
Becoming a Legal Adviser is an invaluable opportunity to take part in experiential learning, enhance your attributes and competencies, and become career-ready.
