From looking inside the mind with virtual reality and EEG equipment, to examining African snails and venus flytraps, our fully-equipped and dedicated labs provide you with the perfect research centre. We also have a dedicated forensic interview suite and mock crime scene house for you to test your skills in gathering and examining evidence.
All of our courses have a strong practical element, whether through volunteering and internships, research or field trips and fieldwork. Some courses also offer the opportunity to take on research projects with, or for, external organisations, while others focus on developing your practical experience by providing a wide range of volunteering opportunities in which you can put your skills to the test.
Our small class sizes mean you won’t just be a face in the crowd. Students and lecturers learn and work closely together in the seminar room, the laboratory and the field.
Every year our students complete over 4,000 work placements and internships and go on fieldtrips to places including South Africa, Borneo, Canada, Bosnia and Finland.
Our lecturers undertake field research around the world, work on research that advises governments, produce BBC documentaries and create tools to help frontline policing.
Gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology including EEG and virtual reality headsets, environmental and GIS computing and a crime scene house.
