At UoG, our students consistently achieve top honours, winning the national undergraduate award for best film at NAHEMI, four times in the last seven years. Our students’ films have also been recognised at prestigious international film festivals all over the world, including Sundance, SXSW, Encounters, BFI New Talent, and Aesthetica.

The course is highly practical so you’ll always be in production, learning by doing. You’ll create numerous films each year, gaining hands-on experience that prepares you for industry while building a rich portfolio to showcase your skills and creativity.

The course is deeply rooted in storytelling, dedicated to developing unique voices of tomorrow, with the highest levels of technical ability and visual aesthetics across all aspects of filmmaking.

The course is ScreenSkills accredited, recognising exceptional standards of industry-relevant training.

You’ll learn in a practical, hands-on environment where you’ll be in production on film and TV projects throughout your course. You’ll explore every aspect of filmmaking, from cinematography and sound to directing, editing and production design, before specialising in the areas that interest you most.

Working collaboratively with your peers, you’ll create a range of short films, documentaries and TV content, developing both your technical skills and your own creative voice. Along the way, you’ll gain valuable experience working in different production roles, helping you understand how professional sets and crews operate.

You’ll also benefit from guidance from lecturers and industry mentors who are actively working in the field, giving you insight into current industry practices. Alongside your creative work, you’ll build the knowledge to finance, market and launch your projects, preparing you for a career in film and television.

Film and TV Production graduates are making waves across the entire film and TV landscape, contributing their talents to the latest cinema releases and acclaimed productions on Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, BBC, ITV and beyond.

They play pivotal roles, ranging from the storytelling craft and creative vision of writers, directors and producers, to the meticulous work of researchers and production management staff, the technical mastery of sound and cinematography experts, and the live production expertise of outside broadcast and livestreaming engineers.

Your grades are just one part of your story, which is why at UoG we accept any grades from any combination of level 3 qualifications.

GCSE in English Lang/Lit and Maths at grade 4/C or above are usually required.

From BAFTA winning directors to editors who’ve worked on BBC programmes like Match of the Day and Top of the Pops, the team brings real industry insight to your learning.
