Assisting lecturers during teaching sessions helped me understand complex concepts

Throughout his degree in BSc Cyber Security, James developed the necessary technical and personal skills which have enabled him to land his dream job.

My Cyber Security degree at University of Gloucestershire has been an incredible adventure, immersing me into the fascinating world of cyber security. Through a broad curriculum covering network security, cryptography, ethical hacking, and risk management, I acquired the essential knowledge and skills necessary for success in this rapidly evolving field. The supportive staff played a pivotal role in my growth, encouraging collaboration, critical thinking, as well as personal and professional development.

One of the highlights of my experience was the opportunity to assist lecturers during teaching sessions. This hands-on involvement not only deepened my own understanding of complex concepts but also allowed me to lend a helping hand to my fellow classmates, promoting a sense of friendship and shared growth among us as young professionals.

Another highlight included the creation and continuation of the Ethical Hacking Society to further improve friendships within the departments as well as a space outside of lectures for students to further improve their knowledge as well as pursue projects outside of the curriculum.

The University further provided invaluable internship opportunities that connected theory with real-world practice. These immersive experiences not only enhanced my resume but also expanded my professional network, laying the foundation for future career prospects. With the unwavering support and mentorship of the faculty, I was delighted to secure my dream job in cyber security, setting the stage for an exciting future.

UoG has equipped me with the confidence and skills necessary to navigate the dynamic world of Cyber Security. I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given and excited to contribute my youthful perspective and passion to safeguarding the digital landscape.
