I have learned so much about where I would like to go with my future career
Amelia Shurmer started her degree course in Law LLB at University of Gloucestershire in September 2022.
“Since starting at UoG, I have learned so much about where I would like to go with my future career. I didn’t realise the options I had until attending the networking and employability events offered by the University. UoG is connected with many firms and law schools which have enabled me to gain work experience in some brilliant areas and see the potential options I have once I have graduated.
“I chose UoG because of the smaller cohorts and personal experience that comes with smaller class sizes. The lecturers are wonderful, they know every student and offer guidance in every aspect of the degree while maintaining a positive learning environment. This has allowed me to strive to achieve the best grades possible through feedback and support.
“The variety of assessment methods throughout the course are brilliant as it gives you an insight into where your skills lie and how you can further develop for a career in law. The LLB is so diverse and you gain such a wealth of skills. This is so valuable and allows you to go in so many directions with your degree.
“Beyond the academic element of University, I am the student subject coordinator and student ambassador for the coming year. These positions will allow me to gain skills in areas I have not experienced before and will give me the opportunity of promoting the student experience as best I can to potential students and enhancing the academic life of current students in my area of study.
“Overall, my experience with UoG so far has been overwhelmingly positive and has encouraged me to be the best version of myself and realise what I can achieve in more than just the classroom.”
