The combination of the degree and the DDE teaching qualification really enhances your CV

After graduating with a BA (Hons) degree in Dance, Amelia Gilbert gained a summer job in dance and sport coaching, and feels confident about applying for a range of jobs in the industry.

“The Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) qualification offered by the University is an incredible internationally recognised qualification that was undoubtedly the determining factor for me in choosing this University. The versatility in dance genres taught on the degree, supported with the three focus strands of performance, choreography and teaching means the DDE highly supports many modules and provides exceptional experience and understanding for teaching modules.

“The ISTD affiliation with the University immediately makes it stands out as a high delivery and high standard dance course for students like me who have grown up under this exam board. This affiliation means it provided reassurance in the style and standard of dancing on the course and among my peers.

“The DDE allows the opportunity to make you highly employable as a teacher immediately after University in comparison to other dance graduates who struggle to attempt achieving this qualification after leaving an institution. The combination of having the degree and the teaching qualification really enhances your CV, meaning I have the confidence and ability to apply for a range of jobs in the industry.

“As a student ambassador and course representative, when I promote the course to potential students, they show a great interest in the DDE with all students and parents saying how amazing it is we offer it.

“I have successfully secured a self-employed job for the summer after I graduate in dance and sport coaching as a head coach leading summer camp, that would have not been possible without this qualification.”
