The support from the tutors in and out of lectures was exceptional

Isaac graduated with a first-class degree in Professional Policing BSc degree at University of Gloucestershire.

During these past few years on the course, I have learned a lot. The policing team provided myself and my cohort with engaging teaching, an informative curriculum approved by the College of Policing, and simulated multiple course practicals where we could put the skills we learned in lectures into practice.

The support from the tutors in and out of lectures was exceptional and helped me to achieve a 1st in both my dissertation and my degree overall. The policing team provided me with everything that I needed to succeed in my police officer application, start working as a police constable with West Mercia Police Force, and feel extremely confident in doing so. In addition, I was close with several people on my course which made attending lectures and, in general, university life much more fun.

In addition to the course itself, I took part in several voluntary positions at university which allowed myself to grow and become a more confident individual. In my second year I was elected as the community and welfare officer for the UoG Athletics Club, and in my final year I was elected as the Club Captain.

I also volunteered as a nightline call handler in my second year, where I listened to individuals who may have been having a difficult time and needed someone to speak to. Due to my involvement in these roles I met lots of new people, learned to act in the interest of others and developed my leadership skills.

My time at University of Gloucestershire was amazing, and the degree I undertook and the support that I received put me in the position that I’m in today. My advice for anyone at university currently is to try new things, push yourself out of your comfort zone and be confident in yourself.
