We had great support from our course leader and head of Gloucestershire business school

Hiya Rathod studied BA (Hons) Business and Management (Entrepreneurship and Innovation).

As a keen entrepreneur, the course modules provided her with the knowledge to create a future plan, boost her confidence and improve her skill set.

“The ‘Exploring Entrepreneurship’ module played a significant role in starting my entrepreneurial journey. Before the module I was doubtful of my capability to create new ideas, however, I was able to come up with innovative business ideas during the simulation experience which was designed to test, develop and expand our entrepreneurial skills.”

During her time at the university, Hiya was involved in societies and founded the Business and Enterprise society (BES). This society was designed to build a community of students from all subject areas and backgrounds who have a keen interest in all things business, attending regular events to help them expand their knowledge and develop their skillset across industries.

“We had great support from our brilliant course leader and head of the business school – they could see how pivotal this society could be to students. We took part in placement panels which consisted of various students who had been on placement to share their experiences and feedback.

This inspired me and so many students, helping us to better understand the benefits of all kinds of placements.”

Hiya also enjoyed a work placement with WarnerMedia.

“My title during my placement year with WarnerMedia was ‘Filmbankmedia Business Development Intern’. I was given the opportunity to work on projects in a number of different areas such as marketing, sales, and finance within a small team. I definitely felt like all my hard work has paid off and I gained some incredible skills that will be valuable to my future career prospects”.
