Will worked on ant behaviour

Will took advantage of the University of Gloucestershire’s captive colonies of leafcutter ants Atta cephalotes to investigate use of pheromones in foraging behaviour.

He had first become interested in social insects and chemical communication during his undergraduate studies, and seized the chance to undertake more detailed study of this fascinating area via an MSc by Research.

During this project, he also worked alongside university teaching staff as a research assistant on a project on active learning in higher education, taking the lead on the sections relating to how undergraduate students benefit from hands-on lab work in their degrees.
