Year 12 or equivalent are invited to join academics from a range of Health and Social Care based subjects to explore the courses and careers available for students interested in pursuing a future in health and social care.
Each student will be able to experience two taster sessions across a wide range of subjects in health and social care, aimed at broadening their understanding of the profession.
Students should select their preferred talk combinations. Each student will experience two different subject workshops – these are first come, first served and subject to capacity restrictions.
Workshops may involve using specialist simulation equipment, being in our virtual ward and getting ‘hands on’ with learning.
Please note that parking is not available on-site – we advise you to make alternative arrangements.

10.30am – 10.45am | Short break |
Workshop option 1 11am – 12pm | A) Social Work: Simulated children and families court – an insight into how children’s welfare and best interests are considered within care proceedings |
B) Diagnostic Radiography: Mock positioning and reviewing x-ray images on the large screen for different types of injuries | |
C) Occupational Therapy – TBC | |
D) Learning Disability Nursing – TBC | |
12pm – 12.45pm | Lunch (students to bring their own packed lunch) |

Workshop option 2 1pm – 2pm | A) Children, Young People and Families: Interactive activities exploring course skills and values |
B) Operating Department Practice: Activity TBC | |
C) Physiotherapy: Anatomage/anatomy models and linking to sim stations that mimic real-life physiotherapy scenarios (resp, neuro and MSK) | |
D) Healthcare Science: Reviewing patient vision pathway and diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy | |
