Future Fit Universities – a Christian Perspective

The Michael Perham University and Cathedral Lecture 2023

Joy Carter, Professor Emeritus of the University of Winchester, presents Future Fit Universities – a Christian Perspective.

We are delighted to welcome Professor Joy Carter, formerly the Vice-Chancellor of The University of Winchester, to present this lecture on the future for higher education.

Professor Carter is an academic with research based in Geochemistry and Health and was a former President of the international society in her field.

She is currently Chair of St Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation and Peace, and has also chaired the Cathedrals Group of Universities and the Church of England’s Advisory Group for the Foundation for Educational Leadership.

Passionate about all aspects of sustainability and social justice, she has a particular interest in climate change, widening participation, sport and animal welfare.

Professor Carter was awarded a CBE in the New Year Honours in 2018 for services to Higher Education.

The Michael Perham University and Cathedral Lecture series is named in commemoration of Michael Perham. As well as being Bishop of Gloucester, Michael was Pro-Chancellor of the University of Gloucestershire for many years, served as Chair of the University Council, and was instrumental in developing closer relationships between the University and the Diocese.

Seats must be reserved in advance, so we request those wishing to come to please visit Eventbrite to find out more and register your free place.
