Greatest of All Time Exhibition
Part of a series of events celebrating exciting developments taking place at UoG, connecting our campuses in Cheltenham and Gloucester.
The exhibition will be a celebration of creativity by artists of all ages and backgrounds across Gloucestershire responding to the G.O.A.T theme.
The Art Show will be exhibited first at Park Campus where visitors will see how investment is delivering a vibrant Creative Campus, benefiting from new studios, workshop spaces and other specialist facilities.
The Art Show will then tour to City Campus, giving members of the public the opportunity to see inside the stunning new facilities in the former Debenhams department store that have transformed the building into a cutting-edge centre for teaching and learning.
“This exhibition is a celebration of creativity, community and inspiration. By asking artists to reflect on who they consider to be the greatest of all time, we’re opening up a powerful and deeply personal conversation through art.
“It is also a fantastic opportunity to welcome the public into our new City Campus, and to our transformed Creative Campus at Park. In doing so, we will forge stronger connections with our local communities which not only benefit our creative programmes, they add value to the university as a whole.”
– Professor Angus Pryor, Executive and Dean for Research and Head of the School Creative Arts, Culture and Environment
Thank you for your interest in our Greatest of All Time Art Show.
We have received an overwhelming response to our original call for work – so much so that we can no longer accepting new entries.
However, we are keen that as many people as possible have the opportunity to participate in the show, so we are offering a new way of getting involved.
We are now asking people to answer the question: Who or what is the Greatest of All Time? by providing work in a (goat shaped) postcard format. We are expecting submissions from students, staff, alumni and community artists from across Gloucestershire (and beyond).
All entries (within reason!) will be displayed as part of the show which runs throughout December 2025 at Park Campus, before moving to City Campus in the new year.
At the end of the show, the postcards will be auctioned off, with proceeds being donated to GRASAC – Gloucestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre. There will also be a prize for the best entry*, as judged by a panel of UoG experts.
‘Goat-cards’ will be made available from Monday 29 September 2025, at reception areas at UoG campuses: City, Francis Close Hall, Oxstalls, Park and Pittville Student Village. These will also act as submission points.
Only 1,000 goat-cards will be available and these will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Entries are also limited to one person.
If you represent a community organisation with multiple members wishing to take part, please contact [email protected] so we can arrange distribution and collection of cards.
*First prize will be £250 in Amazon vouchers.
Completed goat-cards should be returned via the post boxes located at our campus receptions.
Important: Before submitting, please take a photo of yourself with your completed work and post it on social media using the hashtag: #myuoggoat. This is how we will be able to find you if you win the competition!
Also important: The closing date for postcard submissions is 16 November 2025.
