International welcome centres

Last updated: 19 December 2023

If you are an international student subject to immigration control, the University may be required to check your immigration documents prior to permitting your enrolment. If this is the case you will receive appropriate notification at the start of the enrolment process. Other than for digital grants of leave, the Home Office requires us to check all immigration documents in person – these checks will be conducted at one of our international welcome centres.

BRP collection

During your visa application, if you nominated to collect your BRP from the University, this will be available to collect from the Immigration Office at your chosen campus. Alternatively, if you nominated to collect your BRP from the Post Office in Gloucester, please ensure you collect your BRP prior to having your documents checked.

You will only be able to collect your BRP card from the location you nominated during your visa application (opening times as per table below). Please refer to the letter from UKVI that accompanied your passport if you are unsure of your nominated BRP card collection point.

The international welcome centres are the ideal opportunity to meet University staff representing Immigration, Admissions, International, Finance, and Student Records, as well as representatives from local banks who will be able to assist you with registering for a UK bank account.

Please see the table below for dates and campus locations.

When attending an international welcome centre, please have your student number to hand and ensure that you bring your passport (or travel document) and details of any existing immigration permission. Please also bring passports for any dependants whose BRPs you are collecting.
