Introduction to placements

University of Gloucestershire’s School of Health and Social Care has the privilege of working collaboratively with partners from across health and social care services, and private voluntary independent organisations across Gloucestershire and into the surrounding counties.

We’re able to offer valuable, practice-based learning experiences for placements aligned to your chosen course and future career pathway, with a wealth of experiences.

Health and Social care takes place in the home, the community and organisational departments within the NHS or Social Care settings, so travel to and from placement will be required for the duration of your course. Placements will be allocated to suit the requirements of your course, as approved by the associated professional statutory regulatory body standards.

Students attending health and social care courses with practice placement requirements will experience a breadth and depth of placements across Gloucestershire and beyond. The county has a diverse population and demographic, with a variety of health and social care needs, providing many exciting placement opportunities.

Placements are located in both inner city and rural locations. This provides opportunities to work within a wide variety of contexts in order to meet wide societal needs.

This map shows the county and surrounding areas where your placements may take place. Please note that travel to and from placement may be up to 90 minutes, please ensure you are familiar with routes and transport options available in the area.
