Societies in lockdown

Last updated: 7 December 2022

We’ve all had to swap our nights out for what feels like an eternity of PJ nights in, hitting nothing more than the sofa and the inevitable wall of boredom. To stop cabin fever setting in, our societies found a way of getting everyone together when it was needed most:

LGBT society

Virtual games’ nights and ‘going out but staying in’ events saw students dress up in their very best glad rags to trustworthy loungewear. Whatever their choice, the virtual social gatherings were a wonderful way to stay connected.

Dodgeball society

Swapped the usual Wednesday ritual that is a pub quiz followed by an ever-popular student night out, to host a quiz of their own. The society has been holding regular Wednesday evening quizzes and impressively been giving out some fantastic winners’ prizes. The quizzes are free to join for all students and anyone placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd will receive a prize.

Education society

There’s no better way to bring people together, raise spirits and keep motivation levels high, than to channel your inner Mary Berry. The Education society encouraged students to dust off their baking equipment and share their finest bakes. To submit a photo of their masterpiece and potentially win a Great British Bake Off cookbook.
