The University will award a bursary of £1,000, paid as cash, for each full-time student entering their first year of undergraduate study from an eligible Tier 1 partnership school.
Tier 1 partnership schools are colleges/schools where the University has established contractual links (a full list of eligible Tier 1 Partners is available below).
Eligibility
Eligible students will:
reside in the UK and be eligible for home fees
be a new entrant student to the University for the 2026/27 academic year and starting on level 4 of your course
be starting on the first year of a full-time undergraduate degree that charges the full University tuition fee
have studied at an eligible Tier 1 partnership school that has signed a partnership agreement with the Outreach Team and have successfully completed a full-time, NQF level 3, further education course lasting a minimum of one year, no earlier than academic year 2024/25.

The bursary will be paid directly into student’s bank accounts in two instalments:
70% after enrolment has been completed (no later than the end of teaching week 5)
30% at the commencement of the 2nd semester of teaching (no later than the end of teaching week 5)
Exclusions
Students will not be eligible for the bursary if:
they decline their place at the University of Gloucestershire.
they do not enrol for their course.
they enter the course into level 5 or above; are postgraduate, EU or international student; or studying on a franchise, hybrid or validated University of Gloucestershire course at another institution.
they hold an equivalent or higher qualification i.e. you must not already hold a qualification that is equivalent or higher to the degree that you will be undertaking.
they have been awarded another University of Gloucestershire bursary or scholarship as a maximum of one scholarship only can be awarded. In the event that students have applied or are eligible for more than one scholarship they will be awarded the scholarship with the highest monetary value.
The Welcome to Gloucestershire Award can be cumulative with the Care Leaver Bursary.
Important notes
The University will terminate the award for any student who ceases to be an enrolled student of the University of Gloucestershire. If either the award or enrolment are terminated for any reason, the student must repay the University any monies overpaid, based on a pro-rata calculation from the date of the termination.
An award holder who transfers from full-time to part-time enrolment will cease to be eligible to hold the award.
