Transfer to the UK

The University of Gloucestershire welcomes transfer applications at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Transferring in

We welcome transfer applications at both the undergraduate and postgraduate taught levels.

To ‘transfer’ means to

  1. apply to study on a particular course (degree programme) at the University, and
  2. to apply to have your previous learning recognised for credit toward your degree completion.

At the University of Gloucestershire, we call the recognition of previous study APL (Accreditation of Prior Learning). You can either apply to transfer to us  and claim APL individually, or you may be eligible to apply for one of our formal Progression/Transfer Pathways from one of our international partner institutions.

We have agreements in place with a number of partners worldwide, which allow students to progress their education on one of our degree programmes. These ‘pathways’ allow entry with advanced standing (coming into the degree programme at an advanced level rather than the beginning) onto specific courses. We have pathways that bring students to our campuses in the UK to complete their degree, as well as pathways that allow students to study by distance learning. View our current list of overseas progression partners and transfer options below.

If you are not able to apply to join us on a progression pathway, you can apply for APL (transfer credit) individually. You will need to show evidence of your qualifications, and submit detailed information about your course, including module descriptors (syllabi) showing contact hours and learning outcomes. Please see our APL guidance for more information.

How to apply

Please review our Applying as an international student guidance.

If you are looking to transfer to the University of Gloucestershire, the first step, after you have confirmed your transcript and credits with your current college/university, is to contact our Admissions team the relevant Regional Manager in the International Team (you can find this information on your ‘country page’). We can advise on whether we may be able to accept transfers with the credits gained from your current programme, and next steps.

You are also able to get support on your application from our agent representatives in your country. Please see our agent partners on your ‘country page’.

“I could not recommend the pathway option at the University of Gloucestershire more! This pathway is designed for students that are looking to further their education in an environment that is realistic to the changing needs of higher education students. Although I was a remote and international student, felt truly connected to the program and the instructors. My tutors were supportive through every step and in just eight months, this program gave me the ability to turn my diploma into a Master’s degree.”
