Transferring in
We welcome transfer applications at both the undergraduate and postgraduate taught levels.
To ‘transfer’ means to
- apply to study on a particular course (degree programme) at the University, and
- to apply to have your previous learning recognised for credit toward your degree completion.
At the University of Gloucestershire, we call the recognition of previous study APL (Accreditation of Prior Learning). You can either apply to transfer to us and claim APL individually, or you may be eligible to apply for one of our formal Progression/Transfer Pathways from one of our international partner institutions.
We have agreements in place with a number of partners worldwide, which allow students to progress their education on one of our degree programmes. These ‘pathways’ allow entry with advanced standing (coming into the degree programme at an advanced level rather than the beginning) onto specific courses. We have pathways that bring students to our campuses in the UK to complete their degree, as well as pathways that allow students to study by distance learning. If you are not able to apply to join us on a progression pathway, you can apply for APL (transfer credit) individually. You will need to show evidence of your qualifications, and submit detailed information about your course, including module descriptors (syllabi) showing contact hours and learning outcomes. If you are looking to transfer to the University of Gloucestershire, the first step, after you have confirmed your transcript and credits with your current college/university, is to contact our Admissions team the relevant Regional Manager in the International Team (you can find this information on your ‘country page’). We can advise on whether we may be able to accept transfers with the credits gained from your current programme, and next steps.

Progression partners
Progression Partner Award
If a student wishes to transfer to the University of Gloucestershire from an international progression partner, the University offers a Progression Partner Award of £5,000 which is automatically deducted from tuition fees (no additional application is required).
The student must apply (and get an offer) for an undergraduate degree (entering at level 4, 5 or 6) and be studying for a minimum of two semesters (one academic year) on campus, and should be paying international tuition fees.
The £5,000 Progression Partner Award is split across your number of years of study at the university, as outlined in the table below.

A valid pathway mapping document and Advanced Standing Letter should be in place between the University of Gloucestershire and the partner in order to qualify for the award.
