It can be difficult to get your head around the world of student finance, but the
money advice team is on hand to help you make sense of what lies ahead.
Key facts
- No upfront tuition fees. You won’t have to pay any fees while you are studying; you can apply for a student tuition fee loan to cover the fees. This will be paid directly to the university. Tuition Fees for full-time undergraduate and PGCE courses will be £9,250 and £11,100 for Fast Track courses.
- You can also apply for a student maintenance loan to help towards your living costs up to £9,203 if you live away from home to study and up to £7,747 if you stay at home. You can apply for student loans from March. You do not need to wait for a confirmed offer of a place on a course.
- Additional non-repayable grants may be available for students with dependents and for students with disabilities.
- Living cost loans and grants will be paid to students in three equal instalments over the academic year – one at the beginning of each term.
- You will only start to repay the loan in the April following graduation if you are in employment and are earning a salary over £26,575. You will repay 9% of your income above £26,575. For example if you earn £29,500 you would repay £21 per month.
- Each course can vary in price. Fees are explained on the individual course pages.
