Saving an endangered species

Our animal biology degree offers students overseas field research opportunities including residential field trip options to South Africa to study animal behaviour and conservation, and the Swiss Alps to analyse the ecology of alpine environments. Recent dissertation projects have included examining turtles in Mexico, bats in Ghana and marine ecology in Abu Dhabi.

“Coming to the reserve in my second year, and hearing their struggles with poaching I knew I had to do something. I asked what I could do and found the position I have now.”

Richie now works as a Rhino Monitor, protecting the endangered species from poaching and working towards conservation goals.
