Students give their views on University of Gloucestershire

The quality of learning resources, enthusiastic teaching staff, and good advice and support on study choices have all earned the University of Gloucestershire scores higher than the average for the University sector in this year’s National Student Survey.

The University’s scores for the quality of teaching on courses, and for academic support to students, also rose this year. Satisfaction with the quality of teaching now stands at 86%, which is the University’s best result for five years. And satisfaction with the quality of learning resources has risen to 88% this year, up from 74% five years ago.

Run by Ipsos MORI, the NSS is an opportunity for final year undergraduate students to provide feedback on their university experience. It asks 23 questions regarding six aspects of university life, including overall student satisfaction.

Courses and course groups at the University achieving 100% satisfaction rates in the 2015 NSS results are Landscape Architecture, Biology, Early Childhood Studies, Education Studies, Primary Education 3-7 Foundation Stage/Keystage 1 (3 year) and Religion, Philosophy and Ethics.

This comes hot on the heels of the University of Gloucestershire achieving its highest league table position in a decade in The Guardian University Guide 2016. The University now ranks 54th out of 119 universities in the table. The Guide also ranks the University number one in the country for ‘value added’, which measures the progress students make from the time they start their degree to the time they graduate.
