Adam completed his doctoral research in 2023, which focused on heterogeneity among recreational sea anglers. As part of this, he developed the first ever sea angler typology in the UK to inform the integration of recreational fishing in the policy landscape post Brexit.
Adam is currently a post-doctoral research fellow at the CCRI and is funded by the ESRC. His current research focus is on stewardship and compliance in recreational sea angling to inform the sustainable management of marine environments.
After completing his doctorate (prior to his ESRC fellowship), Adam was employed at the CCRI working on several projects for public sector organisations, including an evaluation of DEFRA’s Fishery Management Plans and the development of social value indicators for small-scale fisheries.
Before joining the CCRI, Adam developed a career spanning two decades in the higher education sector, taking roles as a socio-economic researcher (SERIO and Marine Institute, University of Plymouth), the manager of the Pedagogic Research Institute (University of Plymouth) and an ESRC Funding Manager (University of Exeter).
He has extensive experience in developing, leading and delivering both qualitative and quantitative research projects in both theory-driven and applied contexts.
