Dr David Foster

Senior Lecturer in Education

I have a wide range of experience teaching a variety of subjects and disciplines at undergraduate and postgraduate level across various higher education providers.

Biography

I have over 26 years’ experience of working within education: 7 in primary schools and over 19 in higher education.

Within primary schools, I worked for 3 as a classroom teacher, and 4 as a mathematics coordinator and member of the senior management team within a two-form primary school.

I also had the additional responsibility of being a mentor and lead mentor for a variety of ITE students (both undergraduate and postgraduate), and a range of teaching and integration assistant students.

I have held lecturer and senior lecturer posts at Newman University College, Birmingham City University, University of Birmingham, University College Birmingham and University of Gloucestershire.

I have also held senior education developer and programme/course leader roles at BCU (APA, PGCertHE and PGCertHE Online), UoB (School Direct Early Years, Primary and SEND) and UoG (PGCert Research Methods and MRes).

I have also been an external examiner at two other higher education institutions (Swansea Metropolitan University and Sunderland University) covering several primary subjects, education/professional studies and school experience modules across undergraduate and postgraduate ITE programmes.

I am currently an external examiner and moderator at Centre for Research in Early Childhood (CREC).
