I completed my Masters degree (Mint Prof) within the Department of Architecture, at the University of Pretoria (South Africa) in 2006. After completion of my studies, I worked for various architectural firms in South Africa, and an interior design firm in London, UK.
My research focuses on sustainable interior design, especially regenerative thinking and design. I also have research interests in the topics about HIV/AIDS curriculum integration; decoloniality in design education; and Guerrilla marketing in Interior Design.
I achieved a Green Star SA Accredited Professional – Interiors in 2014, a Living Future Accreditation (LFA) through the Living Building Institute in 2022.
Since 2013 I have taught and moderated at various universities and institutions across the globe:
Golden Key Academic Achievement 2004
Institutional (University of Derby): SBID; BIID; IE, 2019-2023.
In this super-complex world many factors influence my beliefs, which continually shape my teaching pedagogy. Some of these factors include: external political, socio-economic, and environmental issues; the values of institutions at which I currently work; the diverse students I teach; trends in interior design; my interests in sustainable design, design for social issues, constructivist grounded theory and regenerative design; and my personal values of being structured and organized in my work, while valuing student diversity.
These beliefs, and factors have shaped my eclectic teaching philosophy and has amounted to varying behaviours and strategies (traditional to progressive) which I use in my teaching.
My research interests include regenerative thinking and design; HIV/AIDS education in design education; decoloniality in design education; and guerrilla marketing in interior design.
