Student Profiles

Vivian Ikechukwu-Ifudu - PhD Business Management

The environment is wonderful with Victorian buildings. The quality if the teaching is very good and there are lots of extra curriculum activities lined up for the students. For potential students, the school helps you balance studies and outside school activities- a preparation you will need in the real world. Students also get to make new friends from different nationalities.

I love a lot of things about my course; most importantly it makes me think outside the box. I get to apply knowledge learned into practice through discussions in workshops and with colleagues, though this involves lots of hard work.

Caminus Ezema - MSc Computing

I think the main attraction of the University of Gloucestershire is its amazing atmosphere where all lecturers and staffs are very supportive, friendly and approachable. The affordable tuition fees as well as the scholarships available for international students also attracted my attention.

The method of teaching here is brilliant and the support from the lecturers is very encouraging. Again, the lecturers adopt an interactive approach to their courses, building interesting discussions and real-life examples into their teaching. It gives me joy because it gives us the opportunities to try our hands in what we are taught in the class. It also helps to build important skills for when I get a job.

Samuel Adeboye - BSc Forensic Computing

I think my best achievement from the course is a lot of practical knowledge, for example when I was doing the criminology modules we attended a stimulated crime scene. Even with the computing modules, we have a lot of practical so we are not just getting taught theory but we are applying it too.

So far it has been the best three years of my life; it is very different from back home in Nigeria. I was very shy when I started so I decided I need to face my fears so I applied to be a student ambassador for which you interact with people a lot. This really helped improve my communication skills; I find it so easy to talk in front of people now.

Chimezia Azuwike - LLB Law

What I like the most about the law programme is the way it is structured and the assessment. The assessment gives students opportunity to develop their research skills as well experience examination stimulations. Moreover, the lecturers are amazing that they take personal interest in the students’ welfare, monitor their progress and are available to help any student that is struggling academically.

The highlight of my time at the university has been my involvement as a student ambassador. This has helped develop communication skills that will help me in my career as a lawyer. Furthermore, my studies have also greatly enhanced my career potential especially by participating in mooting which is purely public speaking. This is a vital and important part of the law profession.

Osayuwamen Erharuyi - MSc Computing IT Management

Studying at the University of Gloucestershire gave me the exposure to education in the UK, changed my thought process and equipped me with well-defined approach to dealing with difficulties in academics, which I found useful and applicable to solving problems in other spheres of life.

I got my first paid professional IT job in Cheltenham in Cheltenham, where I worked as a Network Operations Centre (NOC) Engineer with Horsebridge Network Systems Limited a Telecommunications firm. I am currently working as an IP Network Operations Engineer at TalkTalk Technology in Manchester which is the technology hub of TalkTalk Group.

Abaide Tamaraupreye - Msc Human Resource Management (International)

I enjoyed the wonderful and quiet learning atmosphere and the unlimited access to learning resources and material from the library. Another thing I enjoyed the most was the availability and readiness of lectures or staff members to render assistance or direct me in the right path to get any necessary support needed.

The best thing about the course was the way in which it was designed to reflect both the theoretical and workplace experience in HR. I was able to get a feel of the work environment which for me makes it easy to relate my chosen profession with colleagues. I also enjoyed how the lectures were being delivered and the interactive section we had, most especially the student led lectures.

I think I have gained an enormous amount of knowledge about HR practices and applications that can be implemented by organisations operating both internationally and locally and will miss the conducive  learning environment that enabled me to gain as much I have during the course of my study.

Mfonobong Smith - BA (Hons) Law Fast track

I am currently taking a law course in the University of Gloucestershire; which I must add is officially the best place to take any course if you are coming to the UK.

You’d probably think to yourself “of course she’ll say that, it’s where she attends. I mean, no one would really bad mouth their university would they? But trust me, I wouldn’t want you coming into the UK and having it out for me for misleading you.

I get nervous breakdown as much as I drink water (which is a lot), and the first day I arrived at the university, I was prepared to be a total wreck. But I was welcomed by the friendliest lady I had ever met. Ever! She helped me fill my forms and said “omg! We share the same birthday!” There and then, my journey begun…
