Applying as an international student

1. Academic Entry requirements – check the course page and your country page to ensure you hold the necessary qualifications. 

2. English language requirements – check that you meet the English Language requirements.  In addition to approved English tests like IELTS and we do accept a ‘Medium of Instruction – MOI’ letter from certain countries. Visit your country page for more details about such IELTS exemptions. 

3. Additional requirements – Some courses require an interview, audition or the submission of a portfolio containing examples of your work as part of the application process. Visit our Interviews and requirements page for further information. 

• Academic Transcripts: Certified copies of all academic qualifications with detailed marks/grades.
• Language Test Scores: IELTS or equivalent test results showing your English proficiency.
• Passport Copy: A clear scanned copy of your passport with personal details and photo.
• Proof of Funds: Evidence of financial resources to support your studies in the UK. Please see Student visa on GOV.UK to see whether you are exempt from this.
• Reference Letters: A minimum of 1 academic or professional reference letters, 2 will be required for research courses.
• Statement of Purpose (SOP): A written document explaining your academic background, career goals, and reasons for choosing the course and university.
• Visa History: Details of your visa history, including any previous visa refusals or cancellations, if applicable.
• Research Proposal: Most of our PhD/Research courses will require a detailed research proposal, please see the course page to see if this required for your course.

Note: The above is an indicative list and you may be asked to provide additional documents during the application process. Not all documents are necessary for all countries. Please do check your CAS Shield to see what will be required”

Option 1 – Applying Directly to University 

i. You can apply online by using the ‘Apply’ button on the relevant course page. 

ii. Please note, this option is not available for Undergraduate course, for which you have to choose Option 2 or 3 below.  

Option 2 – Apply via one of our authorised agents: international applicants can submit an application though one of our Authorised Agents via our country-specific information pages. You can also find out more about applying via an agent.   

Option 3 – Applying through UCAS (Undergraduate courses only) 

i. UCAS is an online system where you can apply for up to five courses in one application. For UoG, you can apply for more than one course under the same application. Learn more about applying to UoG through UCAS. 

ii. If you’ve already applied through UCAS, visit the International Student pages on the UCAS website for more information. 

Postgraduate research (including Professional Masters by Research courses): 30 April 2026

CAS request deadline (all study levels): 17 August 2026 

Some courses may need an interview, audition, or portfolio of your work as part of the application. Visit our Interviews and Requirements page for more details. 

1. Check your emails regularly: Keep an eye on your email for updates, offers, and important information about your application. 

2. Once you hold an offer, you will be expected to create an application through CAS Shield: By completing Log in to the university’s CAS to track the status of your application and view any updates or additional steps. 

3. Watch for additional document requests: The university may ask for more documents after submission. Upload these documents promptly. 

4. Prepare for an interview or audition: If your course requires an interview, audition, or portfolio, make sure you are ready and follow any instructions sent by the university. 

5. Financial proof: Ensure you have the necessary proof of funds ready for your visa application.
