The Racecourse is on the opposite side of Cheltenham (Evesham Rd, Prestbury, Cheltenham GL50 4SH) to our Park campus, and overlooked by Cleeve Hill. There is ample parking on site and this is free of charge. When you arrive, please follow the signs to the Members' Car Park and/or the directions of the car parking stewards. The stewards will also be able to advise regarding disabled (Blue Badge) parking is available close to The Centaur entrance. There is also a drop-off point available by the main Centaur doors for those with elderly or less mobile relatives but no Blue Badge.

It will be busy on the day so please allow extra travel time to ensure you arrive at The Centaur at least an hour before your ceremony to allow time for registration, gowning and photography. You will need to take you seat in the auditorium 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony.

Frequent bus services run from Cheltenham Spa railway station and the town centre to the Racecourse Park and Ride car park which is a short walk from the venue entrance. Please visit Stagecoach for full bus timetables.

Arrival and registration

Entry to The Centaur is by printed/electronic copy of your ticket only for graduates and guests. Please arrive at the venue no later than one hour before the advertised ceremony start time and please enter via the main doors to The Centaur building (there is a one way system in place). If the graduate arrives earlier than the guests, they will need to return to the door with their ticket to grant the guests entry.

Registration is a crucial part of the proceedings and you must register immediately upon arrival (your designated registration point is indicated on your ticket). Once registered, students must not then leave the venue. If you do not register we will assume that you are absent and your name will therefore not be read and you will not cross the stage.

If you arrive late/after registration has closed, we cannot guarantee that the student will be able to take part in the ceremony. Please therefore allow plenty of travel time to ensure that you are at the venue no later than one hour before the ceremony start time.

Please note that there are no cash machines or storage facilities for coats, bags, luggage etc. at the venue.

You must have a printed copy of your tickets for entry to the graduation venues and for registration.

Your ceremony

The ceremonies take place in The Centaur's auditorium and last approximately two hours. You will need to arrive at least an hour before the start time, and ensure you are seated 20 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony.

Students are allocated a specific seat on the ground floor alongside fellow students from their course. Students are not permitted to change to seats as this will disrupt the running order of the ceremony and may mean that your name isn’t read out.

Ushers are on hand throughout the ceremony to guide you. Guests may use any of the unallocated/unlabelled seating in the auditorium. It is advisable to arrange a meeting point near the photography area with your guests to be used once the ceremony is over. Please be aware that you cannot go back to the foyer or pre-ceremony areas but must follow the one way system around to the Grandstand and Hall of Fame.

Pre-ceremony drinks (included in your ticket) will be available for students and guests in Cottage Rakes at the Racecourse. There will be signs to this area and stewards will be on hand to direct you. Post-ceremony hospitality (tea/coffee and cake) are included in the ticket and will be available for graduates and guests in hospitality suites located just off the Hall of Fame and near to the exit.
