Your audition
We are looking for passion, enthusiasm, motivation and potential that we can develop. We like to see your character coming through your audition – be yourself! Our auditions are relaxed and fun and we help you achieve your best!
Essential information
Our audition days are designed to offer you a snapshot of what it is like to study at University of Gloucestershire, so it’s not just about the audition.
We want you to view our facilities, take a class with us, meet with our academic teams, chat with current students, tour the campus and visit the accommodation you may be living in. Please note that although you are asked to register for 11.45am, your audition time will be allocated on the day and you can expect to be with us for the afternoon. We also welcome parents/guests to our audition days and hold a special Q&A for them whilst you are attending your audition.
Your Audition will consist of 2 elements:-
Group workshops
In the group workshops you will work with our team of lecturers in a series of technical classes and creative workshops that will give you an understanding of our teaching styles, and the genres that you can expect when enrolled on the course.
Individual chat
The 1-1 chat you will have with one of our lecturers will allow us to hear all about your dance journey, interests, and aspirations, as well as giving you a chance to ask us your burning questions.
We don’t make cuts during the day as we want to give you the chance to show us who you are!
If you have any questions or require more information about your audition, please contact our admissions team on 03330 141414 or email [email protected].
You should bring suitable clothing for technique classes in the following styles:
- Contemporary
- Jazz
- Commercial
Please also bring water (we have water fountains for refilling).
You do not need to prepare anything for the group audition.
Individual chat
After your group performance we will have a short, informal chat, giving us the chance to get to know you a bit better and answer any questions you have.
What we may ask you
1. Where do you find your inspiration and joy for dance?
2. What has been a highlight in your dance journey so far?
3. What are your goals and aspirations, and how could studying Dance at University of Gloucestershire help you achieve them?
4. What are the areas you are particularly strong in, and where do you need further support to develop your potential?
Please bring any questions you have for us – it’s important you get to know us too.
If you have any questions or require more information about your audition, please contact Rachael Bock, Academic Course Leader for Dance, at [email protected]
We believe that meeting our applicants and giving them the opportunity to mix with our staff and students, as well as explore our facilities, is the best way to help them make the important decision about their choice of university. But if for any reason you are unable to travel to the University for this event, please let us know and we will arrange an online audition.
