UoG hosts awards event as part of National Apprenticeship Week
University of Gloucestershire will be celebrating the achievements of its many apprentices at an awards event being held as part of National Apprenticeship Week 2025.
The University’s inaugural Apprenticeship Awards 2025 will see winners named as Apprentice of the Year for their subject in recognition of their academic achievements – all of which have been accomplished alongside working full-time.
The awards will be presented in front of an audience that will include dozens of employers who are collaborating with the University to offer apprenticeships across 18 different programmes covering cyber and computing, health and social care, business and education.
Learners and employers will be travelling from as far afield as Hull and London to attend the event, which will take place at the University’s Business School at its Oxstalls Campus.

Overall, the University is working with hundreds of employers and around 1,000 learners, meaning it is one of the region’s major apprenticeship providers. Programmes offered range from the level 5 (foundation degree-level) to level 7 (master’s-level) programmes.
The awards event, to be held on Wednesday 12 February 2025, will be the pinnacle of the University’s activities taking place as part of National Apprenticeship Week (10-16 February), an annual celebration of apprenticeships at all levels.
Dame Clare Marchant, DBE (pictured), Vice-Chancellor of the University, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming so many of our apprentices and their employers onto campus and celebrating their fantastic achievements.
“Apprentices are an integral part of our community and we are exceptionally proud that they make up around 10% of our university population. They bring different learning perspectives that are incredibly enriching for all, particularly in terms of how theory translates into real-world practice.
“This event is a testament to the connections we have developed with employers from across a range of sectors and industries, including brands as diverse as Cyber Security Associates, JW Marriott, the NHS, Superdry, Zurich and Leonardo.
“By working with these employers, we are helping them to achieve their growth ambitions, which in turn supports the development of opportunities for all our graduates and alumni.”
