Placements
In the second year of the programme, you’ll have the opportunity to gain professional experience through a mini placement. Students are encouraged to undertake work experience in settings aligned with their future career goals. Opportunities are available across a range of environments, including mental and physical health organisations, as well as research and academic roles within the university.
In addition, students have the option to complete a full placement year between their second and third years. Those who choose this route are supported during their second year in identifying, applying for, and preparing for a suitable placement, helping to develop relevant skills and professional experience.
Trips
In your first year, you’ll have the opportunity to go on a field trip to a community farm and mental health museum.
We’ll consider how the way in which we consider mental health and treatment has changed over time, from the restricted structure of the asylums to modern initiatives designed to encourage independence and wellbeing.
Experiences
Studying psychology at UoG, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to build connections with staff and other students, and to develop your skills. We encourage group-work and discussion, and aim to foster a lively academic environment.
As part of your degree, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in an exciting range of away days and events. From writing workshops to poster days, these activities give you a chance to bond with your fellow students and build your confidence in your own work.
