Course overview

This course is a specialist postgraduate degree. You’ll gain the tools and techniques you need to undertake a digital forensic investigation, analyse evidential data and to produce documentation for use in the criminal and civil legal system.

The aim is to provide you with the knowledge and skills to be able to undertake digital forensic investigation in accordance with established professional practices and legal requirements. To achieve this, the course has been designed to create effective cyber forensic investigators who will have acquired the necessary technical skills and knowledge to work within a managerial role in the industry.

Each module will be delivered in a five-day block of study – combining traditional lectures and tutorials with support from industry case studies and seminars.

Assignments issued at the end of each block will be simulating real-world scenarios and, where possible, live briefs will be used. Teamwork and communication skills are embedded throughout.

Digital programmes at Park Campus will benefit from state-of-the-art equipment and facilities coming on stream in the 2024/25 academic year. Featuring a Cyber Control Centre, a Virtual Reality facility, a digital lounge, and enhanced teaching and learning facilities, the Digital Hub will be equipped with the latest technology, including photogrammetry equipment offering new capability to capture 3D objects in different locations.

Developed in conjunction with CyNam, Hub8 and Plexal, the new facilities will help ensure that students can simulate real life experiences, connect with industry and the business community, and graduate with the skills and knowledge required to drive the sector forward regionally and nationally.

You can use this virtual experience to explore these new specialist facilities.
