What is Data Science (HTQ) CertHE?

The Certificate of Higher Education in Data Science is an intensive one-year programme that prepares you for an exciting career in the field of artificial intelligence and data analysis.

The course is aimed at industry professionals and provides an introduction to data analysis and data technologies.

It covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of entry-level data science, such as python, machine learning and data visualization.

The course also provides you with some of the fundamental skills in computer science and programming, such as object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and database design.

You’ll study at Park Campus – home to UoG’s computing and cyber security courses. UoG has secured £5.8 million funding to enhance our computing and cyber facilities, and the new state-of-the-art hub will open in the 2024/25 academic year.

The Data Science CertHE course gives you the opportunity to start your journey in the field of data science. Please note that this course is currently pending validation.

Study style

The modules that make up the The Certificate of Higher Education in Data Science will allow you to learn independently, as well as in teams, building crucial skills required for industry.

Theory will be delivered in an interactive and open fashion, driven by your questions and interests to the extent possible within the planned curriculum.

All theory sessions will be followed by a lab session during which you are able to implement the theories you have just been learning, guided by lecturers and support staff to overcome challenges and make steady progress.
