This contemporary, accredited programme, is designed to make you industry-ready, prepared to work as an innovative, evidence-based, graduate sports therapist.
Led by our Sports Sciences team this programme delivers a full set of competencies, allowing you to examine, assess, and treat musculoskeletal injuries.
On this Society of Sports Therapy accredited course, you will learn injury prevention strategies and rehabilitation skills, to return individuals to full participation. With a focus on opportunity, employability and business entrepreneurship, the comprehensive Sports Therapy curriculum enables you to combine theory, hands-on experience, critical reflection and professional judgement, as you learn to excel in the latest techniques in Sports Therapy.
The course is underpinned by sports science disciplines, and will develop advanced skills in physiology, biomechanics and scientific research methods, throughout your studies.

Interactive lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical sessions, independent study and e-learning materials make up the course. You are expected to undertake around 24-28 hours of independent study per week. The course is assessed through a range of methods, such as practical assessments, coursework, presentations, case studies, laboratory work, group debates and formal exams.
Throughout your course, you will be expected to manage your time effectively through scheduled taught content and independent study, alongside your placement hours.
There is an 80% attendance policy for this course due to Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB).

English Language or Literature and Maths Grade 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) are normally required.
In order to study this course, offer holders will need to complete a satisfactory DBS and Health Clearance check.
This course is available with an integrated foundation year to help you prepare. A degree with an integrated foundation year starts your studies with a year spent learning the skills required to progress onto a full honours degree. You will develop valuable study skills, communication, team work and problem-solving techniques which help to build your confidence and prepare you for the rest of your course.

We regularly arrange trips to local dissection labs, so you can develop your anatomical knowledge alongside visiting St Georges Park for an insight into the professional world of sport and the multidisciplinary team. We also have links with The Chamwell Centre, which is one of the largest hydrotherapy pools in the country to allow students to gain an understanding of how hydrotherapy can be utilised for injury, rehabilitation and for special population groups.
Work placements are core to the course, with opportunities to gain experience with national, international, amateur sports team and athletes. Work placements have included Gloucester and Worcester Rugby clubs, Oxford City, Bournemouth and Cambridge United football clubs, British American Football, Cheltenham Town FC and many more.
