In his current role as Academic Subject Group Leader for Constructed Environments, Bill operationally manages staff, students and all areas of teaching, learning and research within the subject group, including overseas courses. Bill is also responsible for curriculum development of a new suite of undergraduate and postgraduate Design, Sustainable Technology and Construction orientated courses that are cognately linked to Landscape Architecture. Bill is part of the senior leadership team for the School of Arts.

A cross-cultural and interdisciplinary approach is the focus of Ying's research, teaching, and practice in Landscape and Urban Design. This enthusiasm came from her early childhood education in Music and Classical Chinese Poetry. As the First Chinese Course Leader in Landscape Architecture in the UK since the Landscape Institute founded in 1929. Ying believes that she has the responsibility to carry forward the spirit of Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe and contribute to making Landscape Architecture as the most Comprehensive of the Arts in the 21st century.
