Graduation

Graduation ceremonies for the class of 2020 to be delayed

Our Graduation ceremonies are the highlight of the University calendar. They are the perfect opportunity to bring you, your family, your tutors, and the rest of the University together to celebrate your achievements, in person.

In a recent survey we conducted with our students in collaboration with the Students’ Union, which 800 of you completed, an overwhelming number of you told us you wanted a graduation ‘done properly’, and not a socially distanced affair or an online event. You told us you were prepared to wait to get the ceremony you wanted.

In particular, you told us that you wanted to bring your extended family and friends, and that you wanted to wear a cap and gown, so that your graduation ceremony felt like the celebration it deserved to be.

With that in mind, due to the coronavirus pandemic and in order that we can offer you these important things, we have made the decision to delay your graduation ceremony until May 2021.

We are provisionally arranging your graduation ceremonies for 4-7 May 2021. These will still be held at Cheltenham Race Course. However, please note that whether they can go ahead will be dependent on government advice at that time. Given the current uncertainties, we are suggesting that you avoid incurring any expenses for travel or accommodation until these events are confirmed.

We will let you have the date and time of your graduation ceremony in September, and will send you further details in January 2021 when you will be able to book your tickets. We will also update this website with all the details you need to make the most of your graduation ceremonies. Please remember to keep your postal address and email details up to date with us via Student Records Online to make sure our mailings reach you.

In the meantime, you will receive your Degree Certificate in the post as soon as your final award is confirmed. We are planning to mark results day, Wednesday 29 July, with some fun over on our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook feeds. Make sure you're following @uniofglos and we look forward to celebrating with you properly when we can all meet again.

If you have any questions about graduation, please email graduation@glos.ac.uk and we will do our best to help you.
