Applying for a postgraduate degree

Explore your passion and progress your career with a postgraduate degree from University of Gloucestershire.

We offer two main types of postgraduate degree course:

Master’s courses – these are often 1 year full time or longer part time, and typically consist of a range of modules, lectures and coursework.

Research courses – these are self-directed and completed over several years. These degrees involve collaborating with a subject community to develop your research.

Applying for a Master’s degree: our 4-step guide

1. Find a course

Browse our course pages to see which one(s) you are interested in applying for.

Part-time options are available for many of our courses – the options are listed on individual course pages, and you apply directly to us.

Once you’ve found a course you want to apply for, check there are places available for your chosen year of entry.

2. Check the entry requirements

Entry requirements can be found on individual course pages.

If you’re unsure whether you meet the minimum requirements, please email details of all your qualifications and the courses you’re interested in to [email protected] and we’ll let you know.

If you are an international student and have any queries about submitting an application, please get in touch with the international team.

Do you have qualifications or experience that is not listed in the course entry requirements?

Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) recognises learning that has been previously assessed and certificated by a recognised provider of higher education, or gained through relevant professional and/or personal experience.

3. Apply online

Apply online for postgraduate taught courses by using the ‘Apply’ button on the relevant course page.

You can save your application as you go along so there is no need to rush. Please take your time and submit your application when you are ready.

We continue to accept applications until our courses are full, or teaching has begun. However, we advise you not to wait so you don’t miss out on a place.

Some of our courses give you the opportunity to take a module as a taster, before deciding if you want to apply. Please email us for more information: a[email protected].

Applying for a PGCE teacher training degree

PGCE teacher training applications are made through the Department for Education’s Apply site. You will be able to manage and track your application, as well as respond to any offers, through this site.

Our teacher training courses are very popular, and each course has a limited number of places, so early application is advised.

An interview will be required and we have lots of helpful information on what to expect and how to prepare.

4. Wait to hear from us

After your application has been submitted, our Admissions team will look at your application in detail.

We’ll then decide whether we can make you an offer or invite you to an interview to go through your work in the form of a portfolio, audition or as part of a group assessment.

Most research degrees can be applied for directly online using the ‘Apply now’ link on the relevant course page.
