Scholarship Offer Details:
- The NHS Foundation Trust Scholarship is offered, funded and administered by the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust*
- The 2gether NHS Foundation Trust Scholarship offers up to £7,750 per student per year and is available for each year of the course
- This scholarship breaks down into two parts:
- £5,000 fee sponsorship available per year
- Additional £2,750 available per year as a bank contract if the student commits to various qualifying criteria (detailed below)
- There will be 10 scholarships available in total
- Students can apply for the scholarship in year 1 and qualification for further years support will be reviewed on an annual basis
o For a continuation of the scholarship support for further years, students will be assessed based on achievement of course progression points, completion of the required 20 shifts and the students ability to maintain resilience and a healthy work, study and home life balance
o In the event that these conditions are not met, the award for the following year will be withheld until such time as the required hours have been worked and outstanding module and practice hours have been completed - 2gether NHS Foundation Trust reserves the right to withdraw the sponsorship scheme at any point
- Application for and the award of the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust Scholarship is in no way linked to the qualification and award of any other bursary or scholarship made available by the University of Gloucestershire. Students should engage with the University of Gloucestershire’s Student Funding teams to discuss any other bursaries / scholarships that might be available to them.
£5,000 Fee Sponsorship Qualification Criteria
- The student must commit to work full time for the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust for a minimum of 2 years immediately after graduation
- The student must show commitment to the health community of Gloucestershire in terms of career planning and career aspirations
£2,750 Bank Contract Qualification Criteria
- The student must commit to working 20 shifts with the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust across the
- year of study
- o Shifts will be allocated and confirmed via the NHS Staffbank service
- o Each shift equates to 7.5 hours, therefore meaning a minimum commitment of 150
- hours across the 20 shifts for the year
- Students will need to be able to articulate a sound, robust and resilient strategy for balancing
- academic studies, 20 bank work shifts and placement hours without compromising course
- grades or personal wellbeing
- Shifts will be paid via an employment contract between 2gether NHS Foundation Trust and the
- Student/Worker
Application and Award Process
- 2gether NHS Foundation Trust will administer the whole scholarship recruitment process
- including the selection of successful candidates
- Payment of the scholarships to successful candidates will be made through 2 channels:
- The £5,000 Fee Sponsorship will be paid by way of a course fee reduction – the University of Gloucestershire will reduce the course fees liability to the student by £5,000 (from £9,250 to £4,250 at current prices)
- The £2,750 bank contract will be paid directly by the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust to the successful student
- Students will need to apply for the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust Scholarship in year 1 of the course
- Applications for the scholarship will only be open at the start of the first year of study – students who don’t apply or fail to qualify in year 1 will not be able to re-apply in subsequent years
- Continued scholarship support in further years of study for successful students will be assessed year on year and will be linked to successful completion of academic modules and practice hours, as well as the student’s ability to meet the required number of bank shifts for the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust for that year
- Once a place on the course has been offered, students will be provided with contact details at 2gether NHS Foundation Trust to get further information about the scholarship, including details on how to apply
- Application for the scholarship will be via the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust Jobs Advertisement site
- Full terms and conditions for the scholarship will be provided to the applicant via the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust Jobs Advertisement site and via email communication following the students initial expression of interest to the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust
- In order to continue with the scholarship across the three years, students will need to progress each year in line with the University of Gloucestershire and The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) guidelines
- Students will be required to sign a scholarship contract with 2gether NHS Foundation Trust outlining what terms and conditions have been agreed to. This will include consent to the sharing of practice/module results (pass or fail status only) and attendance figures whilst on the course, between the University of Gloucestershire and 2gether NHS Foundation Trust
- Students will need to have confirmation of a place on the Nursing (Mental Health) course at the University of Gloucestershire before being considered for the award of an NHS Foundation Trust Scholarship. Potential students will need to apply for the course through UCAS and will need to meet minimum entry requirements.
*Please note that the University of Gloucestershire has no involvement or influence regarding the awarding of these scholarships. Application and registration to the BSc (Hons) Nursing (Mental Health) course delivered by the University of Gloucestershire should be made through the usual channels. The £5,000 Fee sponsorship element of the scholarship is managed through a course fees reduction to the Student from £9,250 to £4,250 at current prices. The £2,750 bank contract element will be paid to the student by the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust and the University of
Gloucestershire has no involvement with this element.
