Where will my offer holder day take place place?

To confirm which campus you need to come to, check your booking confirmation email.

Is parking available?

Free parking is available at each campus. You will see ticket machines in each car park, but you don’t need to pay or display anything in your car.

At Francis Close Hall (FCH), spaces are limited, so we recommend you park at Hardwick – details below. Free parking is also available at the Prince of Wales stadium (GL50 4RN). Both options are only a five-minute walk from Francis Close Hall campus.

How do I reach you by public transport?

Francis Close Hall and Park

By train
The closest rail station is Cheltenham Spa – around 20​ minutes’ walk from both campuses

By bus
Cheltenham has two Park and Ride facilities.

Oxstalls

By train
The closest railway station is Gloucester – around 20 minutes’ walk from campus.

By bus
A short walk from the station is Gloucester city centre where you can catch the number 94 Stagecoach bus service. It stops on Cheltenham Road, opposite the campus.

Where do I go on arrival?

Once you arrive, look out for the check-in signs. Student ambassadors will welcome you and direct you to where you need to be. We’ll send you an email closer to the time with more information.

What should I expect from the day?

Exciting activities specifically designed for you to experience life as a UoG student. You’ll join talks with lecturers who will guide you through what to expect from your course. There will also be interactive taster sessions to understand the kind of work you’ll be doing.

There’ll be plenty of time to ask lecturers questions, chat with current students about their experiences and speak to accommodation, finance and student support teams. You’ll also be able to tour campus grounds and facilities and view on-site* and off-site accommodation.

*On-site accommodation is only available to view at Park and Oxstalls.

What should I bring?

It would be useful to bring a notepad and pen, phone or laptop in case you want to make any notes. For Physical Education or Sport, Coaching and Physical Education, please also bring sports kit with you for your interactive session. Don’t worry about lunch – it’s provided for you and your guests.

Can I bring anyone with me?

Yes – you can bring up to two guests. There will be a Q&A session held for them while you’re in your course taster session.

What time does the day finish?

Finish times vary slightly depending on which campus you’re visiting. To confirm which campus you need to come to, check your booking confirmation email.

Francis Close Hall – Education and Humanities courses

Scheduled activities finish at 2.45pm, with the opportunity to view accommodation and tour the campus from 2.45pm onwards.

Francis Close Hall – Natural, Biological and Social Sciences courses

Scheduled activities finish at 3.15pm, with the opportunity to view accommodation and tour the campus from 3.15pm onwards.

Park – Computing and Engineering courses

Scheduled activities finish at 2.45pm, with the opportunity to view accommodation and tour the campus from 2.45pm onwards.

Oxstalls – Business, Law and Sport courses

Scheduled activities finish at 2.15pm, with the opportunity to view accommodation and tour the campus from 2.15pm onwards.

Is lunch provided?

Yes, lunch is provided for you and your guests, along with refreshments throughout the day. If you haven’t already informed us of any dietary requirements at the point of booking, please email us at studentrecruitment@glos.ac.uk so we can ensure you and your guests are suitably catered for.

Please note: the latest we can accommodate any new dietary requirements is six working days before the event date.

Will accommodation be available to view?

Yes, on-site* and off-site accommodation options will be available to look around on the day.

*On-site accommodation is only available to view at Park and Oxstalls.

Can I talk to someone about accommodation options?

Our Accommodation team will be on campus during the event to answer any questions you might have regarding living arrangements.

Can I talk to someone about student finance?

Our Finance team will be on campus during the event to answer any questions.

Can I talk to someone about my offer and/or my offer conditions?

Our Admissions team will be on campus during the event to answer any questions regarding your offer.

Is a map available for each campus?

Yes, campus maps are available using the links below. Don’t worry about needing to find your way around campus though, there will be student ambassadors on hand to show you where you need to go to get to your sessions.

Hardwick campus map – Hardwick is part of Francis Close Hall, just a short walk from the main campus.

Is free WiFi available?

Yes. For the event on 16 March, text Offer16 to 07860 039 833 once you’re on campus and you’ll receive login details via SMS. Select Eduroam Wi-fi on your device and enter your username and password to join the network. For the event on 23 March, follow the same steps, but text Offer23.

What is there to check out locally when my day is finished?

Francis Close Hall

With Cheltenham town centre just a 5 – 10 minute walk away, you should definitely take a look. The Brewery Quarter has a great range of restaurants, lively bars and entertainment and a little further into town you’ll find specialist shops and cafés to explore.

Park

Just 15 minutes’ walk from the centre of Cheltenham and less than 10 minutes’ walk from Montpellier, you’ll be right on the doorstep of Cheltenham’s best restaurants, scenic green spaces, bars, shops and cafés.

Oxstalls

Located in the heart of Gloucester, Oxstalls is approximately 25 minutes’ walk from the city centre giving you easy access to the city’s bars, shops, historic docks, venues and cafés.

Next to Blackfriars accommodation is Gloucester Quays where you’ll find a vast range of restaurants with waterside views and a popular designer outlet.
