If you would like a career in the fashion industry, you may be interested in university fashion courses to expand your knowledge and skills in the subject. Studying the theory and history of fashion will give you a good understanding of the industry, while practical modules will allow you to use your creativity and ideas to practise designing and creating garments.
There are a lot of career opportunities that come from having a degree in fashion design as the fashion industry is a very large and diverse industry. You could become a designer, stylist or a pattern designer or cutter. If you are interested in the more business side of things, you could work in fashion promotions or become a brand consultant. You could also choose to continue your fashion studies and study a postgraduate degree in fashion at other fashion design universities.
Our BA (Hons) Fashion Design Degree require you to have a certain amount of UCAS tariff points in order to be able to apply. You can find out how many UCAS points you have by visiting the UCAS website and entering your qualifications – you can also enter your predicted grades if you haven’t received your results yet. The course page for the course you’re interested in will tell you how many points you need in order to apply.
In addition to UCAS points, we also require you to submit a portfolio of your work and attend an interview. Attending an interview is an opportunity for us to get to know you and discover what you’re interested in, and why you want to study a particular course. An interview is also a great opportunity for you to get to know the staff who will be teaching you, and will help you to decide whether a particular course is right for you. You don’t need to have a fashion designer course qualification.
If you’re not sure whether you meet the entry requirements for a particular course, get in touch with our admissions team who will be more than happy to discuss your application with you.
