What is Computing (Level 6) BSc (Hons)?

On this one-year top-up degree you’ll build on your previous studies – with flexible module options so you can choose the subjects that build on your existing academic experience.

You’ll be able to specialise in a range of areas such as forensic computing, cyber security, human and computer interaction, quality assurance, database systems, networking, web design, 3D effects, gaming, programming and animation.

Study style

You’ll be required to complete an individual research project related to the main theme of your studies, in an area that interests you. This can take the form of a practical or theoretical project with the support of a lecturer with relevant expertise. You’ll have your own Personal Tutor to support you throughout your studies. And if you’re not sure what your career goals are, they’ll work with you to help shape your plans.

You’ll learn in our new purpose-built School of Computing and Technology. With dedicated research labs, purpose-built break-out areas, games consoles, 4k screens in social areas, industry-standard cyber security labs, plus the latest computing technology and software – you’ll be able to immerse yourself in your subject, both inside and outside your learning. The course is 100% coursework and made up of lectures and practical sessions.

Entry requirements

    • Applicants should possess an HND, Diploma of Higher Education or Foundation degree.

    • We welcome applications from mature students (aged 21 and over) and do not necessarily require the same academic qualifications as school leaving applicants though the entry requirements still apply.

      Some courses require several years of working experiences in the relevant industry.

    • English and Maths Grade 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) are normally required.
