Be among the first to study at our brand new £5.8m FuturePark site where you’ll master the skills needed to protect against cybercrime. We are one of a small number of universities to have our degree certified by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), a part of GCHQ.
You’ll work on live business cases to defend against cyber security risks and study the cyber environments of banks, high-security digital environments, ecommerce and social media platforms.
You’ll develop specialisms through module choices to match your career goals. Optional subjects include data analytics, information security and digital crime scene investigation. You’ll also examine ‘hot’ cybercrime topics. These include the latest security crimes in the news, as well as big data and Cloud systems which have both significantly increased commercial security risks.
You’ll learn to identify security breaches and implement solutions using the latest industry tools and techniques. Through hands-on experience of analysing secure networks and websites, you’ll develop skills around penetration testing, malware identification and ethical hacking.
From network design and operating systems security to keeping information secure in a business environment – you’ll graduate well prepared for your next step.
The majority of your learning will be practical, using industry-standard tools, techniques and practices. Alongside lectures, you’ll undertake group work and individual projects. There are no exams on this course – you’ll be assessed through individual or group-based coursework.
You’ll learn in our new purpose-built School of Computing and Technology. This includes a dedicated cyber security lab where you can practise your skills in a digitally protected environment with an isolated network, purpose-built break-out areas for workshop sessions, games consoles and screens in social areas, and the latest computing technology and software. There’s a strong sense of community, with staff and students sharing both work and relaxation space.

You’ll have access to the latest technology and equipment at FuturePark at our Park Campus in Cheltenham – a £5.8 million centre of excellence for cyber and digital which opened in autumn 2024.
The cutting-edge digital hub offers state-of-the-art facilities including a Cyber Control Centre, a Virtual Reality facility, a digital lounge, enhanced teaching and the latest technology including photogrammetry equipment offering new capability to capture 3D objects in different locations.
Developed in consultation with CyNam, Hub8 and Plexal, the new facilities will enable you to simulate real-life experiences, connect with industry and graduate with the skills and knowledge required to drive the sector forward regionally and nationally.
This course is available to study with an integrated foundation year – an extra, introductory year at the beginning of the full degree. If you don’t meet the stated entry requirements or you’re returning to education, it could be a great option that enables you to study this course.
As well as an introduction to your subject, it will help you to develop valuable study skills, and communication, teamwork and problem-solving techniques, giving you the confidence and skills set you need to progress.
If you’re applying to study as an international student, an integrated foundation year can also support you to improve your English language skills alongside your studies.

We are accredited by Cisco and Amazon Web Services (AWS) which allows students to access a wide range of learning materials for free. Cisco covers networking but also includes programming, IoT, and operating systems. Once a student has completed any of the free courses, they receive a free certificate of attendance and 50% discount off the exam to receive their official Cisco certification.
Our AWS accreditation also gives students access to a wide range of certification resources within cloud computing and cyber security. They can benefit from learning materials, labs, and the ability to work in live cloud environments to test their knowledge and skills. Content covered in AWS-based modules enables students to acquire industry-relevant AWS certifications, if they decide to sit for a certification exam after completing the module.
Gain the edge by using industry-standard software including AccessData FTK, the global standard in digital investigation technology, and CelleBrite which analyses and recovers information from mobile devices. Use Kali Linux and Cisco Network Packet Tracer – well-recognised and in high-demand tools used to protect organisations against cyberattacks within the industry.
Learn how to gather, recover and present digital evidence to court or civil hearing. You’ll follow the Association of Chief Police Officers’ guidelines which lead the development of cyber forensic investigation practices across the UK.

If you choose to study a Cyber Security degree over four years, you’ll have the opportunity to undertake a work placement. Our students have recently worked at Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, GE Aviation, NCC Group, NHS, BT and a number of large organisations.
You’ll also hear from inspirational guest speakers. Previous visitors have included Andrea Simmons from Hewlett Packard and David Hopkins from the Intellectual Property Office.
