Develop your skills and knowledge as a HR practitioner by achieving a CIPD-approved qualification to progress your career. Approved by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) at Intermediate Level, the course supports current and aspiring HR professionals. Associate Membership of CIPD is available when you successfully complete the course, enhancing your future employability.
The course is set at undergraduate level and includes students from varying business backgrounds. You’ll develop your ability to evaluate the effectiveness of HR models and practices, while also developing your understanding of wider business operations. You’ll develop personal planning skills too – drawing on both organisational and academic data to see how HR management and HR development make a contribution to business.
Based in our new, purpose-built Business School at our Oxstalls Campus, Gloucester, you’ll build connections and enhance your knowledge and skills. Our lecturers are current and active business professionals, experts and researchers who apply real-world industry experience to their teaching.
Study style
The course is a one year course and bridges the Foundation and Advanced levels of the CIPD qualifications. You’ll study one afternoon/evening a week. The course is assessed by coursework, such as essays, presentations and portfolios, and you’ll be supported by a Personal Tutor throughout the course.
Development of knowledge and skills – in both HR and academic study – is facilitated through shared learning in the classroom. So, in addition to tutor teaching, you’ll participate in problem-based learning through case study, presentations where ‘students are experts’ and analysis of podcasts/videos, as examples. You’ll also undertake your own reading and research to consolidate your formal learning.
