Dance (Level 6) (BA Hons)

Further develop your dance technique, performance and choreography skills while undertaking practical research in the realm of dance. This final year programme offers you the opportunity to create your own work and hone your performance skills in our purpose built dance and performing arts studios. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of choreographers and professionals and fully prepare yourself for a career in the dance world.

BA (Hons) Dance (Level 6) is a unique degree that offers vocational and academic training across dance genres. This programme is suited to those who wish to pursue a career in performance or choreography. The course focuses on the importance of being open to different vocational styles and industry sectors. Physical training and embodied knowledge are highly valued on this course and viewed as integral to academic development. Theory, research and analysis underpins and enhances experiential learning across all modules.

Entry requirements

Tariff information for 2020 entry

Applicants should have a level 5 qualification such as a HND, Foundation Degree or equivalent in Dance.

Mature Applicants: We welcome applications from mature students (aged 21 and over) and do not necessarily require the same academic qualifications as school leaving applicants.

Grade 4/C in GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent) are normally required. Please contact our admissions team if you have a question.

Our students have participated in workshops with dance companies, professional organisations and experts such as Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company, 2Faced Dance, Alleyne Dance, Strike a Light, The Roses (Tewkesbury) and The Everyman (Cheltenham). Opportunities will include working with professional choreographers and dancers.

I trained at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and have toured internationally as a professional dancer with James Wilton Dance and Candoco Dance Company. I specialise in dance teaching and inclusive dance practice as well as improvisation and choreography.

Work towards ISTD DDE Teaching Qualification alongside your degree

While you're working towards your degree, you'll also have the opportunity (subject to audition) to work towards the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) Diploma in Dance Education.
