Push top athletes to their peak performance in our purpose-built strength and conditioning facilities. You will have opportunities to gain first-rate experience through our links with professional sports teams such as Bristol Rugby Academy and Gloucestershire County Cricket Club.

You'll undertake needs analysis on athletes, implement testing procedures and design periodised training programmes. Over half of your learning will be focused on specialist strength and conditioning practices. Optional modules mean you can pursue your interests in areas such as nutrition, sports injuries or performance analysis.

This degree is professionally accredited with the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association), a world-leading membership organisation for elite sportspeople, and follows the UKSCA’s (UK Strength and Conditioning Association) quality standards.

You will work with other  other practitioners including coaches, sports therapists and sports scientist to develop the skills needed to work as part of a team. At graduation you will be prepared to move into a professional multi-disciplinary environment.

With priority use of our strength and conditioning suite, you’ll be able to develop your coaching skills at every opportunity. Our facilities are free for students to use. Our suite has been used by the UKSCA and British weightlifting teams and is the ideal training environment. You can see our facilities at our open day.

The course involves a substantial amount of practical study alongside coursework, presentations, case studies and both theoretical and practical exams.

Mature Applicants: We welcome applications from mature students (aged 21 and over) and do not necessarily require the same academic qualifications as school leaving applicants.

The majority of modules are dedicated solely to strength and conditioning, delivered by experienced, accredited coaches. The remainder of your modules will cover the underlying principles of sport science allowing you to develop a comprehensive suite of skills to become a well-rounded practitioner.
