Subject Awards 2023/24

The University is delighted to confirm that Subject Award bursaries will be available for 2023 entry UK UCAS applicants.
The University will award students a bursary of £1,000 in year one (Level 4) of the following degree courses to support costs of living and recruitment to key subjects at the University. These courses are important for the UK and our region where we have strong industry links, placements and student success.
Eligible courses

The awards are not limited in number but are linked to these specific courses at University of Gloucestershire. Applicants will be informed that they are eligible during the application stage. The awards are not linked to specific grades or UCAS points. Conditional/Unconditional offers are made based on information provided on the UCAS form and/or via Interview or Audition.
Eligibility
Eligible students will:
- have a permanent home address in the UK immediately prior to starting their course (the address lived in for non-educational purposes) and meet the eligibility criteria for home tuition fees;
- be starting in the 2023/24 academic year on the first year* of a full-time undergraduate degree, delivered by the University of Gloucestershire, with an annual home tuition fee of £9,250 (excluding apprenticeships or any other courses where tuition fees do not apply);
- not already hold an undergraduate/first degree or higher-level qualification;
- confirm that University of Gloucestershire is their firm choice via UCAS by the main scheme decision deadline of 8 June 2023**
- enrol on their course and still be actively engaging with their studies by the scheduled payment date(s) to be eligible for that instalment payment.
*This excludes ‘top-up’ courses and students who are entering with advanced standing because of accredited prior learning.
**Students applying via UCAS clearing or choosing University of Gloucestershire as an insurance choice during the UCAS main cycle will not be eligible.
Full details
The bursary will be paid directly into eligible students’ bank accounts in three instalments.
For courses starting in September 2023:
- 25% in the week beginning 23 November 2023
- 25% in the week beginning 26 February 2024
- 50% in the week beginning 27 May 2024
For courses starting in January 2024:
- 25% in the week beginning 26 February 2024
- 25% in the week beginning 27 May 2024
- 50% in the week beginning 25 November 2024
Exclusions
Students will not be eligible for the bursary if:
- they have been awarded another University of Gloucestershire bursary or scholarship of a higher value. In the event that students have applied or are eligible for more than one scholarship they will be awarded the scholarship/award with the highest monetary value;
- they apply for entry in 2023/24 but subsequently defer their place to 2024/25 entry. The award is for 2023/24 entry year only.
Important notes
- The University will terminate the award for any student who ceases to be an enrolled student of the University of Gloucestershire on the specified course. If either the award or enrolment are terminated for any reason, the student will not be eligible for any further instalment payments and will be required to repay any award instalments overpaid based on the date of the termination.
- An award holder who interrupts their studies, or who ceases to engage with their course on a full-time basis, will not be eligible for any further instalment payments.
